Transient Sculpture (2022)
Transient Sculpture investigates birthed realities when a single light is cast on the landscape. Sculptures created through observation are isolated in time, revealing how the world breathes with us in the dark.
Like Poetic Exploration of Inner Space, this series explores an ineffable connection with the natural world, but with Transient Sculpture becoming a reversal of personal cartography, or in other words, a re-mapping of my felt spiritual presence on the landscape in the hands of frozen motion. What unknown forms of myself, desperately obscured and gracefully elusive, revealed themselves in the twilight?
The photographic process involved venturing alone into nature during the nocturnal hours of the moon’s transitory terrain and experimenting with artificial light as painted and digitally captured on the camera. Reimagining the landscape gifted me a deeper communion with the spirits of nature, the architecture of my psyche, the poetics surrounding the presence and absence of human form, and the experience of the permeating and ambiguous darkness beneath broken waves of light.
