Photographer and visual artist currently based in Pennsylvania.
Born in 2002, Jennifer received her BFA in photography from Savannah College of Art and Design in the spring of 2024.
“Throughout my life, I continuously seek to understand the essence of consciousness by exploring the observable. My artistic endeavors are driven by intuition, and influenced by the surrounding environment and cultural context. I consider the atmospheric resonance and its interplay with internal and external dynamics, aiming to capture a sense of permanence within the fleeting nature of reality. In doing so, I immerse myself in the nuanced and timeless essence of photographic expression, seeking to assert my presence within a medium that serves as both a translation and a documentation of personal and shared narratives.
“Furthermore, I am largely inspired to create due to my insatiable hunger and porous existence for all that is art, nature, anthropology, spirituality, science, metaphysics, psychology, and philosophy with an overarching theme of esotericism. When I am not yearning to redefine my experience as a human, I dabble in poetry, fashion design, sculpture, disc jockeying, and embroidery while incorporating themes of Jungian psychology, alchemy, plant medicine culture, the Anthropocene, and dream interpretation.
“My work oscillates between self-portraiture, landscape, and documentation through literal and fictitious storytelling—often employing multimedia surrealistic and abstract approaches.
“My current project, Sonata Transmutationis, is an analog project that began with the creation of two paper mache masks: one of the sun and one of the moon. These are of a microcosmic and quasi-physical quality as they unfold across the seven stages of interpretive alchemy. The technical process entails subjecting the photographic negatives to the elemental forces, including burning and rusting the negatives and experimenting with film soup.
“Quite a few fellow creatives and investigators of reality have influenced my work conceptually and aesthetically, such as Anne Brigman, Marina Abramović, Kahn & Selesnick, Peter Birkhäuser, Jerry Uelsmann, Remedios Varo, Gilbert Garcin, Carl Jung, Terence McKenna, Margaret Mead, Douglas D. Prince, Andrei Tarkovsky, Hilma af Klint, Gregory Crewdson, David Lynch, Taryn Simon, Cho Gi-Seok, and Duane Michals.
“Art serves as the universe’s eloquent dialect, a timeless corridor traversing epochs, a sacred vessel embodying our collective consciousness, a conduit for awakening minds, and a journey into the depths of the human psyche. I create because the world begs me to, articulating the soul’s discourse to those attuned to its melody.”
