I Made a Photograph Because the World Begged Me To (2023—my demise)

I Made a Photograph Because the World Begged Me To is an ongoing documentary project containing a collection of photographs I’ve taken throughout my life experiences, whether that be scenes of the absurd embedded within the mundane, the unraveling of humanity in our imminent collide, the poetics and navigation of the spatiotemporal domain, or the cinematic intoxication compelling all photographers to drown. These photographs, all black-and-white prints, which at the moment of creation exist separately, become entangled with emotion as they learn to dance with the stories of humanity. The photographs are either digitally captured or analog, depending on which camera I have with me. This a lifelong investigation asking why I am a photographer, how the photographic medium shapes the message, and the nuanced ways we paint ourselves as extensions of the collective.
